Based on the best-selling book The Happiness Trap, ACT Companion is a guide to progressing individuals' mental health and well-being. Backed by professionals, the app provides a single platform to complete guided tasks and weekly check-ins with therapists.
From the overwhelming success of the best selling book, The Happiness Trap by Dr Russ Harris, there was a clear opportunity to take this further. The client approached us, inspired by the book, to create a health and mindfulness tool.
The project was defined by the book’s core strategy, a guide to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. The app provides individuals with exercises that aim to enhance their mental wellbeing and state of mind. The app enhances the user’s experience with audio exercises, guided meditation, and weekly check-ins with approved therapists.
The initial app was built over a decade ago and failed to meet the current industry standards. App Boxer were approached to redesign the functionality of the app and ultimately improve the users experience. Our design team were required to complete a complete UI rebuild as well as updating the system features to meet the current UI and UX standards.
While the existing brand identity was already in place, our design team took on the role of extending it throughout the UI. This was achieved through the creation of simple illustrations that visually represent the brand’s personality.
Our development team were able to rescue this project from another agency. While we were able to utilise the backend of the project, the team were required to completely restructure the front end. The final project was bulid on React Native for iOS and Andriod.
