THE OPPORTUNITY

The Innovation Strategy was to target a new demographic of wine buyers whilst sustaining the companies value to its current database of middle to late age users.

The Wine Industry is ripe for disruption in Australia and with successful apps and AR experiences from trailblazers, the season to bottle-up the innovation is now (all puns and metaphors; intentional).

THE PROJECT

A mobile app allows users to read about types of wine, pair the wine with the appropriate cuisine and find a BYO restaurant to enjoy it. We overcame the challenge of onboarding over 3500 restaurants nationally upon launch. There is also an uber booking service within the BYO finder.

THE ENGAGEMENT

Cellarmasters is the oldest and largest wine delivery company in Australia that delivers directly to the consumer (not available in-store). They reached out to us to help them to execute the breif; build an app that will provide an innovative way to engage a new demographic of wine lovers by connecting wine, food, byo’s and wine advise in a beautifully designed app.

After the Discovery Phase and successful meetings with the Security, Marketing and Commercial teams, The Woolworths Group (via the Cellarmasters Project Leader) decided the App Boxer team were engaged at for execution.

BRAND APPROACH

Cellarmasters provided the Branding Identity assets and created a new logo.

Working with their marketing team project leaders, we delivered a number of design concepts based on white and dark concepts. The result was clean, warm and the content was the hero.

DEVELOPMENT

The app build was workshopped through our Enterprise Discovery Phase and based on the brief provided, we presented the first iteration of wireframes for every user; The Cellarmasters team, the consumer and the BYO restaurant owner.

It was important to onboard a significant amount of restaurants that were qualified for the platform. During the Discovery Phase, the App Boxer created a plan to source, qualify and feature over 3500 BYO restaurants before the launch in Australia.

SUPPORT & MAINTENANCE

We are proud to be continuing to work with Cellarmasters as the support and maintenance team.

As data is captured and new features are released, we expect the BYO Finder to continue to be a valuable tool for wine aficionados in Australia.
